Unlocking at Town Center level 13, the Drill Camp is one of the most powerful yet misunderstood progression features in Kingshot. While the game provides a basic overview of how to sync your heroes' levels, it leaves out some of the most critical strategies for managing your Hero EXP and manipulating your overall account power.

Here is a breakdown of the hidden mechanics and secrets of the Drill Camp that top players use to their advantage.

The Lowest Common Denominator Rule

The core mechanic of the Drill Camp is straightforward: you select five "Drill Instructors," and any hero placed into a Drill Slot below them will automatically match the level of the lowest instructor.

  • The Secret: You do not need to evenly level your top five heroes to progress, but you are penalized if you don't. For example, if four of your instructors are level 80 and one is level 30, every hero in your Drill Slots will be stuck at level 30. Always ensure your top five heroes are leveled evenly to maximize the free levels granted to your secondary roster.
  • EXP Efficiency: Heroes in Drill Slots consume absolutely zero Hero EXP. This allows you to build a massive roster of viable heroes for secondary marches, gathering, and arena defense without draining your hard-earned resources.

The Free Level Reset

Before unlocking the Drill Camp, many players make the mistake of spreading their Hero EXP across ten or more different heroes just to keep their marches viable.

  • The Secret: The Level Resets tab is your best friend. If you previously invested EXP into a hero that you now want to place in a Drill Slot, you can reset their level back to 1. The game will refund the Hero EXP you spent on them.
  • Actionable Tip: Immediately after unlocking the Drill Camp, reset every hero except your main five. Reinvest all that refunded EXP directly into your five Drill Instructors, then place the reset heroes into the Drill Slots. They will instantly jump back up to a high level for free.

The Power Cap Transfer Trick

This is perhaps the best-kept secret among veteran players preparing for a Kingdom Transfer event. When transferring to a new Kingdom, you are often restricted by strict Power Caps based on your target server. Many players mistakenly believe they have to kill off millions of their own troops to lower their power enough to meet the transfer requirements.

  • The Secret: You can drastically drop your account power without permanently losing a single troop by manipulating the Drill Camp.
  • How to execute: Simply remove all of your heroes from their Drill Slots so they revert to level 1, and unequip all of their Hero Gear. Because Hero Power and Hero Gear Power contribute significantly to your overall account power, this temporary reset can easily drop you below the required power cap threshold.
  • The Aftermath: Once your transfer is complete and your 24-hour shield is up in the new Badland, simply put your heroes back into the Drill Camp and re-equip their gear. Your power will instantly return to normal (though you will have to wait out the 24-hour Drill Camp cooldown for replaced heroes).
  • Note on Rallies: Be careful when using Drill Camp heroes as joiners in rallies. If you send a poorly-skilled blue hero who is artificially leveled up via the Drill Camp, their low-tier skill can override the Level 5 skills of other players' DamageUp heroes, completely ruining the rally setup. Always double-check your joiner before sending!
