In the Arena, victory relies entirely on the synergy of your 5-hero squad: you need resilient Tanks capable of absorbing damage on the frontline, heavy Area of Effect (AoE) damage dealers in the backline, and solid crowd control (stuns, attack reductions). The raw statistics tied to the most recent generations largely dominate these battles.
Here is the definitive Arena Tier List combining all generations (Gen 1 through 7).
đź‘‘ Tier S: Gods of the Arena (End-Game Meta)
These heroes dictate the current Arena meta. If they are properly upgraded, they will completely pulverize the opposition.
- Charles (Gen 7), Triton (Gen 6), & Long Fei (Gen 5) [The Tanks]: This is the absolute best frontline in the game. Charles and Triton benefit from monstrous generation stats to survive anything thrown their way. Long Fei, on the other hand, is an absolute brick wall. Placing two of these heroes on your frontline renders your team virtually immortal.
- Vivian (Gen 5) [The Specialist]: She is a hero tailor-made for this specific mode. While she is generally not recommended for events like the Bear Trap, Vivian’s skill kit makes her an exceptional and formidable choice for inflicting massive damage in the Arena.
- Ava (Gen 7) & Yang (Gen 6) [AoE Damage]: Their base stats literally crush previous generations. Their attacks are capable of melting and sweeping away the entire enemy backline in a matter of seconds.
⚔️ Tier A: Excellent & Highly Competitive
If you do not have all the Tier S heroes completely maxed out, these heroes will do an exceptional job and offer great consistency.
- Wee & Woo (Gen 7): They possess very heavy expedition damage specific to Generation 7, making them perfect for supporting the backline.
- Rosa (Gen 4) & Margot (Gen 4): The DPS queens of Generation 4 maintain a colossal striking power in the arena thanks to their heavy raw damage output.
- Alcar (Gen 4) & Eric (Gen 3) [The Veteran Tanks]: Before the arrival of Long Fei and Triton, they dominated the frontline. They remain excellent defensive choices to absorb heavy shocks.
- Marlin (Gen 2) & Petra (Gen 3): Marlin is a special case. Thanks to his heavy Area of Effect (AoE) damage and powerful crowd control (stuns), he remains relevant in the arena much longer than most heroes of his generation. Petra is also an excellent damage support.
- Amadeus (Gen 1): If he is at 5 stars and fully maxed out (including his exclusive equipment), his ultimate skill still inflicts colossal damage to the entire enemy team, which can completely turn the tide of a battle.
🛡️ Tier B: Veterans, Supports, and F2P Kings
Here we find former mythic heroes who are starting to run out of steam against Gen 7 statistics, alongside the absolute best free-to-play (Epic/Purple) heroes.
- Thrud (Gen 5), Sophia (Gen 6), Jaeger (Gen 3), & Hilde (Gen 2): These are excellent Mythic heroes, but in pure 5v5 combat, they lack either the devastating "area" impact or the extreme survivability of the higher tiers.
- Zoé (Gen 2): The best F2P (Free-to-Play) tank for the arena. Her shields allow her to hold the frontline surprisingly well for her age.
- Chenko (Gen 1): He is the absolute king of Epic DPS in the arena. All of his power rests on his "Burst Fire" skill, a cone-shaped AoE attack. If he is well-positioned in your formation, he can hit multiple enemies at once and cause absolute carnage.
- Howard (Gen 1): Considered the best Epic (purple) tank hero for the arena and conquest modes. He is a "zero regret" investment for F2P players because he generates vital shields for the entire team.
- Helga (Gen 1) & Jabel (Gen 1): Jabel is a solid tank and Helga brings a valuable stun, but their Gen 1 stats make them incredibly fragile against the striking power of an Ava or a Yang.
- Diana (Gen 1): Very strong for F2P players thanks to her increased attack speed and AoE damage.
❌ Tier C: Unsuited for End-Game 5v5
These heroes should no longer be featured in your arena team when facing advanced players.
- Saul (Gen 1): A Mythic hero whose skill kit simply has no real impact in 5v5 combat.
- Amane & Yeonwoo (Gen 1): As much as they are the absolute queens of assisting the alliance during rallies, they are far too fragile in the arena and will die instantly to enemy AoE attacks..
- Gordon (Gen 1), Quinn (Gen 1), & Fahd (Gen 1): Although Gordon is an excellent healer for defense teams at the very beginning of the game, his Epic stats mean that in a Gen 7 environment, he will be disintegrated before he can cast his first heal. Quinn's main skill ("Headshot") deals massive single-target damage, which is far too slow in the late game against teams capable of blowing up the entire board in a single strike.
